Local 466 I.B.E.W. Referral Policy

Local 466 I.B.E.W. is divided into two (2) zones;

Zone 1 consists of Boone, Braxton, Calhoun, Clay, Gilmer, Fayette, Kanawha, Nicholas, Putnam, Summers, Raleigh, Roane, Webster, and Wyoming Counties in West Virginia.

Zone 2 consists of Greenbrier, McDowell, Mercer and Monroe counties in West Virginia and Bland, Buchanan, Carroll, Giles, Grayson, Smyth, Tazewell and Wythe Counties in Virginia.

Applicants must initially register on the “Out of Work List” in person between the hours of 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Applicants may register in Zone 1 and/or Zone 2.

Registrants may register on the “Out of Work List” at the Charleston or the Princeton Office.

Registrants must renew their application during the week of the 10th thru 16th of each month by one of the following four (4) methods to remain on the “Out of Work List”:

  1. In Person 
  2. Facsimile to: (304) 342-7716
  3. E-Mail to: resign@ibew466.org
  4. Mail to: IBEW Local Union 466 - 800 Indiana Avenue, Charleston, WV 25302 (Must be delivered to IBEW 466 between the 10th and 16th of each month.

Registrants must resign in person on the annual anniversary month of their initial registration date.

Example:  Initial registration date is January 23, 2011, registrant must renew person between the 10th and 16th of each January until removed from the "Out of Work List". 

 

Registrants who renew their application by mail, facsimile, or e-mail must include their full name, initial registration date, Zone(s) and current phone numbers.

Registrants who fail to renew their application during the week of the 10th thru 16th of each month  will be removed from the list and must re-register in person.

Registrants who fail to renew their application in person on the annual anniversary month will be removed from the "Out of Work List" and must re-register in person.

At 4:30 p.m. each day the jobs available will be listed on the Job Line.

Registrants will be contacted the following day by Telephone at the number(s) provided by the registrant between the hours of 8:00 a.m.-10:00 a.m. The registrant will be allowed two (2) turndowns in each zone without the penalty and will be removed from the list on the third turndown in the corresponding Zone. Registrants that cannot be contacted at the telephone numbers provided or who are unavailable for referral when work would have been offered shall be considered a turndown. Rejection by an employer is not a turndown.

The registrant must re-register in person after being removed from the list.

After accepting a referral in either Zone 1 or Zone 2, the registrant will be removed from the out of work list in both Zones and can re-register after termination of employment of the accepted referral.

The Business Manager is responsible to fill calls in a timely manner as needed by the employers. Referrals may have to be made outside normal hours using whatever means necessary to fill the request by the employer to place registrants.
